A long time member of WO, the Georgian Bay Kayak Club (GBKC) was formed in 1979.   GBKC is a recreational boating club, though current and former members have competed nationally in slalom, squirt and freestyle. The club is based in the Grey and Bruce counties, but club members are now located throughout Ontario. While the club does not presently offer lessons, GBKC is beginner friendly and safety conscious.  New paddlers are welcome to come out with us and pick up some tips and advice from more experienced paddlers. The club also has pool sessions each spring.  Club events include spring paddling on local rivers such as the Bighead, Beaver, Sauble, Teeswater, Maitland, Sydenham and Saugeen Rivers. Wednesday night paddles take place on the Saugeen River in Durham or Southampton, dependant upon water levels, or at Sauble Beach in the fall when the surf is up.  Other events include trips to places such as the  Minden Preserve, the Elora Gorge, and  the Madawaska and Ottawa Rivers.  Social activities play a prominent role in club trips and outings, stories are told around the campfire and guitars, mandolins and up to one banjo are welcomed.  The club maintains communication through newsletters and the gbkc_whitewater yahoo list, and  an annual general meeting and Christmas Party each December to plan upcoming events.  If you want to try whitewater kayaking or are looking for fellow paddlers to go kayaking with in the Grey Bruce area, come on out on a Wednesday night and see what we're all about.  Contact Dave Walker  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Ottawa River Runners Whitewater Club Inc.(ORR) is an organization dedicated to whitewater paddling. We provide an introduction to the sport and ongoing development, with a range of opportunities for paddlers of all ages and abilities to pursue and achieve their personal paddling goals. Weekly summer camps are provided for kids and youth. Introductory courses are occasionally offered to adults who are club members, and private, semi-private, and group intro courses can be organized for club members. In addition the ORR provides ongoing group supervised/coached recreational sessions for paddlers of all ages so that they can improve their skills in a safe environment, in the heart of downtown Ottawa, at our Pumphouse/Tailrace whitewater and flatwater course. Club members have access to club boat and boat storage, with a club house planned to be built within 2 years. River runs and park-and-play paddling opportunities are organized on a regular basis. Ongoing coached slalom programs are available to Cadets through Masters and administered by our fulltime coach and a number of part-time coaches. The club organizes pool sessions in the winter and the High Performance Group have access to training camps at slalom courses in a warmer climate. A number of National and Olympic slalom paddlers are members of the ORR and train at the Pumphouse, which is also the home of Canada's National Team slalom coach.

Western Kayak Club is a club based out of the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. Our goal is to facilitate kayaking for students and staff at the university, as well as members of the community. We hold pool sessions with ‘informal’ peer-to-peer instruction from September to April, where we provide access to our large supply of club equipment, and participate in many river trips throughout the year. Mainly, we provide a place for new students/community members to meet up with other people who share their passion and improve upon their new or existing skill. You do not need to be a Western student to join the club, and beginners are more than welcome!
