Results in from Slalom World Championships 2009

Our Canadian team earned solid results at the Slalom World Championships in Spain this past weekend. In the qualifying races on Thursday and Friday there were very impressive runs. Jamie and Adam Cutts in C2 came 27th. Sarah Boudens and Sara Potvin Bernal placed 47th and 50th respectively. In C1 James Cartwright earned the 10th place spot, which advanced him to the Semi-Finals, and Cam Smedley placed 31st. In K1, Ben Hayward and John Hastings placed 17th and 33rd, with Ben advancing to the Semi-Finals. Sindy Audet, competing in the demonstration category of C1-W, placed 19th, which earned her a spot in the Semi-Finals as well.

On Saturday the Team Races were held for all categories. Canada's K1-W team placed 14th. Our K1 placed 9th in the Semi-Finals. In the Finals, one of our team members was interfered with by a camera, so they were granted a re-run, which earned them a 4th place finish!  Check out the uploaded video footage of the interference:
