Update: King of Clubs - 2011Date:Saturday September 3rd, 2011 Events start 9:00am at McCoys Rapid.
Registration & Check-in:Clubs / Participants should register with event organizers no later then August 29th if they plan on participating. Check-in for the event is no later then 7:30 am on Saturday morning. Check-in / confirmation will take place in River Runs Paddler Camping under white event tent. Paddlers can also check-in Friday September 2nd evening.
Events:1. McCoys Relay – Club paddlers participate in a relay through McCoys rapid involving, running, surfing, eddy hoping, etc. A timed event the fasted club/team wins. 2. Boat Rescue – The Lorne Rapid will host new event this year. Each club will throw in a set number of boats into the rapid as team mates wait down stream to pick up boats, clip in and race to set finish location. 3. Advanced Boater Cross – 5 paddlers from each club line up above Norms Rapid along with other club participants. Race is fastest TEAM (all 5 paddlers from club) that get to finish line located below Coliseum Rapid. 4. Intermediate Boater Cross - 5 paddlers from each club line up above Dogs Leg Rapid along with other club participants. Race is fastest TEAM (all 5 paddlers from club) that get to finish line located below Blacks Rapid. 5. Kayak Pull – Replacing Tug of War, this event will be set up similar to Tractor pull, where 5 paddlers from a club have a set distance to pull barrels through the water in River Run Bay. It is a timed event. 6. Kayak Toss – Top three throws from each club will be added together for the longest distance covered in the kayak toss this year. At least one of the top three distances has to be posted by a female. 7. Rope Toss – A accuracy team event involving throwing a rope bag a set distance were accuracy counts.
Event Logistics:All event outlines, start times, etc, will be handed out to clubs on the Friday September 2nd evening or Saturday morning during check-in. Events are subject to change depending on water levels or other unforeseen circumstances. All clubs will need to have representative present at 7:30 am Saturday September 3rd morning meeting.
Food & Cost:BBQ will be supplied Saturday September 3rd evening, prepared by last years KoC winners Petawawa River Rats. A $5.00 registration fee covering food and supplies will be paid by all KoC participants. To participate in KoC clubs must be Whitewater Ontario affiliated ($25.00 Club fee) and every member must either be a Whitewater Ontario member or pay the $5.00 day fee for insurance.
