^2nd Whitewater Summer Race Series 2011 Results

Gull River, Minden, Ontario –  Upon conclusion of the Whitewater Ontario’s Summer Whitewater Series we are pleased to announce the results of the final two day events including the selection of the TEVA Series Points Champions.  The Andrew Westlake Slalom held on Saturday, July 2^nd drew 45 competitors with top juniors  from Australia, New Zealand, Ontario and Quebec.  With 19 gates to negotiate from the dam head to below the falls, spectators were awed by the action! The finalists were:

The success of this series continues to build momentum for Whitewater Ontario to showcase the sport for paddlers across North America, creating a positive, learning forum for paddlesport development and to prepare for hosting the Pan Am Games proposed for 2015.

The series tallies the finishing position for all competitors in all whitewater disciplines each individual athlete participated in to determine an over-all Male/Female Point winners.  The series events attractively featured slalom, downriver sprint, boater cross and freestyle in which finishing points were awarded.    Our TEVA POINT Champions based on the outcome of eight events were:

MEN

1.      Michael Tayler, Ontario – 80 points

2.      Maxine Leboeuf, Quebec – 75 points

3.      Daniel Watkins, Australia – 71 points

WOMEN

1.      Maggie Webster, Australia – 116 points

2.      Katrina Van Wijk, Ontario – 88 points

3.      Lydia Toms, Australia – 72 points
