Each year the sport of whitewater paddling sees many new faces. Because whitewater kayaking and canoeing are recognized as activities involving a certain degree of risk, they are best learned through an accredited whitewater paddling school approved by CKC. For a beginner interested in whitewater kayaking or canoeing for the first time, enrolling in a program approved by CKC ensures the highest quality experience, and the safest learning environment. By taking a course through an accredited school, a beginner can be assured of a high standard of instruction and a safe introduction to this exciting sport. See below for a full listing of approved whitewater paddling schools and programs. Note that this list is constantly being updated and revised throughout the year.
EQUINOX ADVENTURES KAYAK AND CANOE PROGRAM Since 1981 Equinox Adventures has provided whitewater kayak and canoe instruction from beginner all the way to advanced levels. Courses offerred at both our Ottawa River base camp and at the beautiful Elora Gorge near Guelph, ON, where we have an exclusive access permit for instruction. Our instructors are hand picked and are certified under CanoeKayak Canada, the American Canoe Association and the British Canoe Union. Weekend courses run from May through October, and custon courses for groups are available upon request. MADAWASKA KANU CENTRE The Madawaska Kane Centre provides highly personal instruction in Whitewater Kayaking & Canoeing. Located just outside of Algonquin Park on the Madawaska River, MKC offers all the comforts of a European-style vacation resort. Classes are small, the river clean, warm and uncrowded.
