The Queensborough Black is one of the set commonly referred to as the Hwy 7 runs, named such by the fact that they all cross Ontario's Highway 7 in close proximity to each other. These rivers are most often run in the early Spring once the ice break up (and sometimes even as it is breaking up) while the water levels are high. They peak early and fall off rapidly, although there is sometimes a short Fall season as well.

As Queensborough is roughly half way between Ottawa and Toronto the early runs have a festival atmosphere as the paddlers from those two centres (and other places) meet up again after winter.

The Black is a typical Canadian Shield river, with drop and pool sections, canyons, ledges and falls. For more detailed information about the two sections please refer to:

To make this river even more special, the Queensborough Women's Axillary provide hot chocolate coffee and tea as well as home-baked goods and other treats during the peak weekends in the Spring season. They set up tables right at spot that is both the put-in for the lower section and take-out for the upper section.
