Intro

Parkhill is a park and play spot located in downtown Cambridge, Ontario. Water levels are typically only high enough for play a few days a year. Downstream risks are minimal, you just need to get to river left before the shoreline is replaced by man made walls. Typical put in is under the bridge on river left. Eddies behind the bridge abutments make for easy access to the wave. Be aware of the ugly looking hole near the put in.

At some levels the Mill run is entertaining.

The upstream low head dam is not part of this feature. Stay away from it.

Access

Located next to a small urban park with plenty of parking. However, the location is right downtown so be respectful of the locals while changing in the parking lot. Map to put in

Length of run

Till you get tired and go to the pub.

Water levels

The Grand River Consvation Authority provides realtime data Check the level for the Galt Guage. With experience you can guess the Parkhill level based on flows coming from upstream. Pay attention to releases from the Shand and Conestoga dams.

Below 70 non existent

70 to 140 Fun, easy to get on, beginner friendly (if they can handle the cold water). Wave on one side, friendly hole on the other.

140 to 180 Tricky to get on, more fun if you know what you are doing on a wave. Wave on one side, friendly hole on the other.

180 to 210 Somewhere around here is a level that it is very hard to get on the wave.

210 to 250 Might be awesome? Please update if you have paddled at this level

Above 250 Washed out. Consider the Mill Waves downstream.
