Introduction
Mississauga river flows from Mississauga lake into Upper Buckhorn lake situated minutes away from Buckhorn, ON. For a few weeks in the spring this gem of a canoe route becomes a great whitewater run with plenty of rapids ranging from class two to class five. All of them are scoutable and can be conveniently portaged. Most people portage at least part way two most challenging rapids - falls and Scott dam. A number of other rapids should be scouted as well. Beware of wood in some spots.

Rapids
Boof drop III
After the first 3 or 4 boat scoutable rapids the river splits and the left flow goes through a narrow chute. At the outflow, the river right flow joins back up with the main flow over a small boof drop. It is possible to get out in the eddy and walk the short distance back upstream to run this.
Double drop IV+
This rapid has two drops with some holes and rocks to avoid with some strainers in the outflow at higher levels. Can be scouted on river left.
Canyon III
The river narrows down into a tight high sided canyon. There are lots of green tongues and fast water to follow with a left and right move at the bottom to miss a small hole and river left wall that the water is pushing up against. A quick scout for wood is worthwhile. Can be scouted river left.
Bridge Falls IV/V
A rocky, woody, messy drop, tricky to set up safety.
Length of run
~15km 5-6 hours. Varies depending on what is being scouted.
Water levels
There is no online gauge for this river. Visual assessment is the only known way to judge water levels.
