A Stub article is one that has been identified but has no text yet. This is distinct from a non-existent article, which also does not exist but has not even been identified yet.
Usage
To create a stub article you can start a new page, but, instead of entering the information about the subject, simply put in the following tag:
{{Stub}}
The hope is that someone (possibly even yourself) will complete the article at a later date. At that point the {{Stub}} tag should be removed.
In addition to the {{Stub}} tag you can also put in tags if desired. One possible use is to identify a river known to be at risk without entering the entire article. In order to do this you would enter the following into the article text:
{{Stub}}
[[Category:At risk]]
You should add some information about why the river is at risk in the talk page if you are not going to write up the article.
