| The Preserve Settles in for Winter... | |||

There are several inches of snow on the ground, the building is winterized and the picnic tables are all stood on end to help prevent water damage. It's the end of another paddling season and the Preserve is closed for regular camping however if you want to winter camp or spend the day skiing or snowshoeing it's a pretty cool place for that. There are also rainbow trout in the river and the fishing season for them continues year round, if we get a warm day they really turn on and the fishing can be high quality. We got most of the work planned for our fall clean up done, the wood shed is full and a number of trees have been removed from the group camp area. It should be drier and sunnier there next season. We were also able to cut a few dangerous trees, there will be more in the spring. A huge thanks to all who came out and helped this fall, I've never seen such a large turn out nor as much work get done in one day. So if you are nearby bring your skis or Snowshoes, if it's above zero bring a fly rod or a kayak and a camera. If you think the Gull and the Preserve are amazing in summer you need to see it in winter, truly an amazing place. See you in the spring.
