Help Lead Change in Ontario’s Paddling Community
Whitewater Ontario is seeking a passionate and committed individual to take on the volunteer role of Director of Inclusion, Equity, and Indigenous Sport.
This important leadership role guides our efforts to build a more inclusive, equitable paddling community — and to support reconciliation through sport.
What you’ll do:
🌎 Lead initiatives that promote diversity, inclusion, and equity across all Whitewater Ontario programs and events;
🧠 Provide input and strategic advice to the Board of Directors;
🧭 Develop and support programs aligned with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action 87 and 88, which focus on inclusive sport and the development of Indigenous athletes;
🤝 Collaborate with Indigenous communities, partners, and sport organizations to foster meaningful engagement and participation;
📜 Support policy development and education to ensure equity is embedded across the organization;
🛡️ Help develop and support safe sport policies to promote athlete and participant safety;
📆 Attend monthly board meetings.
What you bring:
- A strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and reconciliation;
- Knowledge of or lived experience with Indigenous communities, sport equity, or social justice issues;
- Strategic thinking and collaborative leadership;
- Experience working with boards, sport organizations, or community initiatives (all assets, but not required).
