Whitewater Ontario is pleased to welcome paddlers, coaches, families, volunteers and supporters to the 2026 Andrew Westlake Ontario Provincial Championships, taking place September 12–13 at the Pumphouse in Ottawa, Ontario.
This year’s championships bring together two exciting disciplines over one action-packed weekend: Kayak Cross on Saturday and Slalom on Sunday.
Whether you’re chasing a provincial title, looking to test your skills against other paddlers, or simply want to experience the excitement of whitewater racing, there is something for everyone.
Saturday, September 12 — Kayak Cross
The weekend kicks off with Kayak Cross, bringing head-to-head racing, fast decisions and plenty of excitement to the Pumphouse course.
Kayak Cross is one of the most dynamic forms of whitewater racing. Paddlers race together on the course, battling not only the clock but also each other as they navigate gates, waves and features.
It’s fast. It’s competitive. And it’s a fantastic event for spectators!
Saturday Afternoon — Development Race
Saturday afternoon will also feature a Development Race, providing an opportunity for developing paddlers and those newer to competitive racing to get out on the course and experience the excitement of racing.
Never raced before? This is a great opportunity to give it a try.
The development race is designed to help paddlers build confidence, gain race experience and become part of Ontario’s growing whitewater racing community.
Come race, learn and have fun!
Sunday, September 13 — Slalom
Sunday brings the classic challenge of slalom racing.
Paddlers will navigate a course of upstream and downstream gates, balancing speed, precision and technical skill. Every second counts—and every gate can make the difference.
The Provincial Championships will showcase some of Ontario’s best paddlers as they compete for provincial honours and the opportunity to add their names to the history of Ontario whitewater racing.
Come Be Part of the Weekend
The Andrew Westlake Ontario Provincial Championships aren’t just about competition. They are about community, development and celebrating whitewater paddling in Ontario.
Bring your boat. Bring your family. Bring your friends.
Whether you’re competing for a championship, entering your first development race, coaching a paddler, volunteering behind the scenes or simply coming to watch the action, we’d love to see you in Ottawa.
